What To Expect From Your Hypnosis Sessions

Whether you've already scheduled your first hypnosis appointment or are getting ready to, here's what to expect…


Sometime before your first session I'll have sent you a free Mp3 recording of a basic hypnotic induction. Hypnosis is a skill and we get better with practice. Listen to this recording at least once before we meet. That way you will already be familiar with the trance state and will be able to go that much deeper right from the beginning.


Also before your first session, I will have you answer a few questions about your goals and what you are wanting to get out of hypnosis. How do you want to feel after your sessions? What powerful changes do you want to make? How will you know that those changes have taken full force and effect in your life? When we have a clear sense of the direction you want to go, the process will be that much more effective.



During your first session, whether at my office or online, we'll dive right in and get to work. Like I mentioned, you will have already had some experience with the trance state from the Mp3 so you will be able to go much deeper. Many people report that after their first session, they feel better than they have in a long time. More relaxed. Lighter, freer. Almost as if they've set down a heavy load they've been carrying around for far too long.


In subsequent sessions you are going to notice that it becomes easier and easier to go into a deeply relaxed state of trance. In this state of enhanced healing, learning, and growth you will then connect with the inner resources that you may not have known were there, and you can begin to rely on those resources to create the transformative solutions to whatever issue you're working through.


In between sessions, I sometimes suggest techniques that are aimed at reinforcing the skills and insights you've gained while in trance. These usually involve some form of self-hypnosis that you will have already learned. They are always easy, fun, and enjoyable.


So, how many sessions are you going to need? Every issue and every person is different. I normally recommend 3 sessions as a good place to start. I've found that most changes occur within 3-6 sessions. Sometimes more. Sometimes less. In any case, we will work together to create a program that works best for you.


After that-and I say this with a little tongue in cheek-I sincerely hope to never see you again. What I mean is, our aim is always to create deep, transformative changes that last. That being said, I'm always happy to work with you on other issues that may come up as you continue your life's journey.
