What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a powerful state of focused awareness.Hypnosis is a powerful state of focused awareness where the natural healing capacities of your subconscious mind are enhanced.

Also known as a “trance,” it is a state that we all experience at least twice a day: that open, spacious, dreamlike feeling you get right before falling asleep and just before waking.

We also go into trance whenever we are focused on a particular activity, like driving, reading a good book, or getting “lost” in a captivating movie.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to align your conscious intentions.Hypnotherapy is the process of using hypnosis to align your conscious intentions, wishes, and motivations with the intentions, wishes, and motivations of your subconscious mind.

Some of the techniques and strategies employed in your personal program of hypnotherapy could include positive suggestions and affirmations, memory regression, parts-work therapy and subconscious conflict resolution, trauma resolution and healing, past life regression, entity clearing, and connecting with such resources as your True Inner Guide and Higher Self.

Successful hypnotherapy has three basic requirements:

  1. Focused awareness
  2. Following simple instructions
  3. Playful curiosity and a willingness to change

Can you make me “cluck like a chicken” while in hypnosis?

The short answer? Only if you want to!

Popular culture and stage hypnotism have led us to believe that the hypnotist (or hypnotherapist) is somehow “controlling” people. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The only reason participants in stage hypnotism shows do those funny things is because they want to. There’s a part of them that thinks it would be fun to act silly in front of an audience.

The fact of the matter is that “all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.” You are always in control of the process. We simply act as a guide, kind of like your co-pilot on a journey of your choosing.

In addition, a hypnotist can’t make you do anything against your will, morals, or ethics while in hypnosis. Even if we tried, you would either automatically come out of the trance or simply refuse the suggestion.

Will I be awake while in hypnosis?

During hypnosis, you are completely aware of what is going on throughout the session.Hypnosis is not a sleep state. You will be completely aware of what is going on for the entirety of your session. You might even feel more aware of what’s going on around you and within you than in normal consciousness.

You also will be able to move your body if you need to as well as speak and interact with your hypnotherapist throughout your session. In fact, verbally sharing your experience is essential when doing any kind of therapeutic work. It makes the experience more vivid and the results much more powerfully healing.

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes. Hypnosis is a completely natural state that is characterized by feelings of physical and mental relaxation and well-being.

There is absolutely no danger of not being able to “wake up” after entering hypnosis. You are totally in control during the entire process and can choose to come out of the trance whenever you want.

How do I choose a hypnotherapist?

Check up on their credentials and read through the material they have on their website. Most hypnotherapists offer some kind of free initial consultation—take advantage of the opportunity. Can hypnosis help me lose weight?

Hypnosis can help you lose weight.Hypnosis is a powerful tool that can help you lose weight, but it’s not always about the numbers. Each of us has an ideal body weight independent of societal expectations and values. In your personalized hypnosis sessions, you will discover a new way of relating to your body and food that honors you as an individual.

By harnessing the power of your subconscious mind, you will discover inner resources that will support you on your way to change. Remember: hypnosis is a powerful tool but it’s not a magic wand. No one is going to cast a “spell” on you so that you will lose weight effortlessly. You need to put in the work. But with the help of hypnosis, the work will become a joy, and you will find it’s possible to more easily achieve the results you want: a healthy, loving relationship with your body and food.
